It aims to support young people to feel confident to cast their vote and to get involved in democracy.
As well as working with secondary schools to celebrate how everyone’s voice matters, and how everyone can get involved in democracy, we’ll be running a social media campaign featuring the Youth Council and others to spread the message. During Your Vote Week, please help us by sharing social media and other key messages. More resources for Parish Councils and other stakeholders are available on the Electoral Commission website, or by contacting Lisa Thompson.
This year, we’re also challenging our Youth Council to double the amount of attainers on our electoral register. Attainers are young people aged 16-17 who are registered to vote so they are ready to go as soon as they turn 18. Registering to vote is quick and easy – all that’s needed is your date of birth and national insurance number.
