Thank you to everyone who has contacted me about these charges I’ve spoken to the Council who have told me that the charge is likely to be reduced to £25 per permit per year. But – everyone who has been in touch is against having to pay for a problem they think the Council caused.
The Council will be consulting before the charges come in so it will be possible for a road to agree to end its scheme – which some people have said is the best thing to do as it isn’t realistically enforced in any case.
If Ladymeadow / Digby do agree to end their schemes I’ll see if we can keep the signs up as a deterrent. Also, some of what appear to be lay-bys in Ladymeadow are in fact private driveways as evidenced by the deeds of the house. I think we should approach the Police and ask them to patrol at key times – anyone other than the house-holder or a visitor who parks in a private driveway will committing an offence of obstruction.
