He is a university lecturer and also runs a college helping less fortunate people gain qualifications. He is a former President of the MK Equality Council with a particular interest in homelessness & mental health.

SAM CROOKS came to Milton Keynes to work at the Open University. He has been a councillor in this area for over 20 years and twice been Leader of the Council. He was Mayor of Milton Keynes 2019 - 20. He is also a magistrate and a former trustee of the Bletchley Park & the Parks Trust. He was the first chair of the city's Community Relations Council.
We've just heard from the Council that the first people with the COVID-19 Omicron variant have been confirmed in Milton Keynes. All four cases were linked to travel. Several more suspected cases are currently being investigated.
The number of people testing positive for COVID-19 in Milton Keynes has risen rapidly in the last couple of weeks. We are now seeing more than 300 cases per day (equivalent to over 700 cases per 100,000 per week). Almost all of these cases are still the Delta variant.
Following its public consultation earlier this year the Council has decided not to proceed with its proposal for double yellow lines at a very precise location on Tyhurst. However it will keep the parking situation in Tyhurst as a whole under review.
