Pedestrian crossing lights on the Newport Road

The contractors employed to repair the traffic lights on the Newport Road by the prep school and the back gate to Brooklands Farm school have discovered that the fault is not the transformer as first thought but the signal controller which is beyond economical repair.
Unfortunately this requires specialist equipment with a delivery time of at least three months. The Council say that – realistically – it will be Christmas before the lights are working again. Both schools have been informed.
